Rajma(Kidney Beans) ~ 1 cup
Chopped Onions ~ 1 No
Crushed/ chopped garlic ~ 1 tbsp
Chopped green chillies ~ 4-5 Nos
Red chilly powder ~ 2 tsp
Coriander powder ~ 1 1/2 tbsp
Turmeric powder ~1/4 tsp
Cumin powder (Jeerakam) ~ 1/2 tsp
Coconut ~ 1 cup
Tamarind paste ~ 1 tsp
Mustard seeds (Kaduku) ~ 1/2 tsp
Oil ~ 2 1/2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Curry leaves ~ 5 leaves
Oil ~ 2 1/2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Curry leaves ~ 5 leaves
Method
- Wash & soak rajma in water overnight or for atleast 6-7 hours. Then pressure cook Rajma by adding little salt, till it becomes soft. ( I usually cook till 7-8 whistles )
- Meanwhile grind coconut by adding little water to a fine paste. Then heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds start to pop up, add chopped onions, crushed garlic, chopped green chillies, curry leaves and saute it till onions become soft. Then add coriander powder, red chilly powder , turmeric powder and cumin powder and fry it in low flame till its raw smell goes.
- Then add ground coconut and mix it well. After that add cooked rajma and tamarind paste and boil for 5-10 minutes and remove from the flame.
Enjoy with rice and chappathi.
