Tuna thoran

Before I go to today's recipe, I want to share a good news with all my readers out there..Myself and my DH proudly announce the birth of our beloved son "Siddhant"...Our little one, who is 2.5 months old is doing great and is keeping us both very busy these days...:)))...Being mother is so much fun and I am enjoying each and every moment of motherhood....

Thank you so much for all the support  in the form of emails and comments while I was away from blogging for the past couple of months, and I am really sorry if I haven't replied to some of your mails. I will surely be in touch as soon as I get some free time..Today I am going to share the recipe of "Tuna thoran / Kerala style tuna stir fry" which is an easy and delicious side dish made of canned tuna...

Ingredients

Canned tuna in water ~ 3 tins ( 7 oz each )
Onion ~ 1 medium sized
Green chilly ~ 4 nos
Ginger ~  a small piece
Garlic ~ 2-3 cloves
Grated coconut ~ 3/4 cup
Black pepper powder ~ 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice ~ 1 tsp
Red chilly powder ~ 2 tsp
Turmeric powder ~ 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves ~ 1 stem
Mustard seeds / Kaduku ~ 1/2 tsp
Oil ~ 2 to 3 tbsp

Method

  1. First open the can and carefully drain the tuna using a colander and keep it aside.
  2. Heat little oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, when it crackles add curry leaves and finely chopped ginger & garlic. Fry for about a minute and then add chopped onions and chopped green chilies and saute till onions turn translucent.
  3. Next add red chilly powder and turmeric powder and fry for couple of seconds. Then add drained tuna along with enough salt and mix it nicely. Cook covered in a medium low flame for about 7-8 minutes.
  4. Then add black pepper powder, lemon juice and grated coconut and cook uncovered for about 8 to 12 minutes and make sure it doesn't get burnt.

Enjoy with some hot rice...:))

Cheers!!!
