Today I am sharing the recipe of dosa.Dosa is South-Indian breakfast item. Dosa is rich in carbohydrates & protein. We can have Dosa with chammanthy ( chutney) or sambar.There are different types of Dosa like Paper dosa, Masala dosa ,Egg dosa, Ghee dosa etc.
Raw rice ~ 2 cups
Urad dal ( Uzhunnu) ~ 1 cup
Fenugreek seeds ~ 1/2 tsp
Cooked rice ~ 3/4 cup
Salt to taste.
- First wash rice and urad dal separately and add fenugreek seeds to the rice. Then soak urad dal and rice in water for about 5-6 hours Note: Keep them in separate vessels.
- Then after 4-5 hours drain the water from rice and urad dal and grind urad dal, cooked rice and soaked rice by adding water little by little to a fine paste. The batter should be of medium consistency. Add salt to the batter and keep it covered in a warm place for about 8-10 hours for fermentation.
- Heat tawa / pan and apply little oil using a cloth. Then pour batter to the tawa using a big serving spoon. And spread it using the back side of spoon in a circular fashion.
- And when one side becomes slightly brown in color turn it around using a spatula and cook the other side. When both sides are cooked remove from the flame.
