Today I am sharing the recipe of Kerala style Kallummekkaya fry / Mussel Fry. Its very easy to prepare but if you are buying fresh kallummekkaya / mussels then you have to clean it properly.
Mussels ~ 1 lb / 500 gram ( Around 15-16 Nos )
Red chilly powder ~ 2 tsp
Turmeric powder ~ 1/4 tsp
Black pepper powder ~ 1 tsp
Fennel powder / Perinjeerakam ~ 1/4 tsp
Vinegar ~ 1-2 tbsp
- First clean the mussels and then remove the meat from the shell using a knife and then wash it properly and then marinate it with diluted vinegar and keep it aside for about 5-10 minutes and then drain it nicely.
- Next marinate it with red chilly powder, black pepper powder, fennel powder, turmeric powder & salt and refrigerate it for about 15-20 minutes.
- Then heat oil in a pan and fry both sides of the mussels in medium flame till they become crispy.
