Today I am sharing the recipe of Spinach Thoran / Red Cheera Thoran which is very easy to prepare and is a very nutritious dish. Spinach is a rich source of vitamins, folic acid, iron, calcium , omega-3 etc.
Here comes my recipe - Serves 2 Adults
Spinach / Cheera ~ 250 grams
Grated coconut ~ 1/2 cup
Green chillies ~ 3 - 4 Nos
Cumin seeds / Jeerakam ~ 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder ~ 1/4 tsp
Red Chilly powder ~ 1/2 tsp
Garlic ~ 2 cloves
Dry red chillies ~ 2-3 Nos
Mustard seeds / Kaduku ~ 2-3 pinch
- Wash and chop spinach to very small pieces and allow it to drain in a colander.
- Then coarsely grind grated coconut, green chillies, cumin seeds, garlic , turmeric powder and red chilly powder.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When it crackles, add dry red chillies. Saute for a minute and then add chopped spinach and cook covered in a low flame for just 1-2 minutes and then add ground coconut mix and enough salt and mix it nicely. And cook uncovered in low flame until all water gets evaporated.
